BNSK at a glance!
Bangladesh Nari Sramik Kendra (BNSK) is a women-led grassroots organization founded in 2010 to address violence, harassment, and rights violations faced by women workers. From its beginnings in two urban slum communities, BNSK has grown into a nationwide movement supporting domestic workers, returnee migrants, trafficked survivors, and adolescent girls. Through legal aid, counseling, skills development, economic reintegration, and advocacy, BNSK works to ensure justice, dignity, and recognition for women in the informal, migration, and care sectors, using a survivor-centered approach to create lasting change.
At the heart of its work, BNSK follows the LEADS approach—a comprehensive framework that ensures holistic and sustainable impact:
L - Listening
BNSK places strong emphasis on listening to the lived experiences of marginalized and underprivileged women, bringing forward both their resilience and their unheard struggles into wider visibility.
E - Educating
Through awareness campaigns, training, and knowledge-building initiatives, BNSK works to reduce information gaps and empower women with the tools and confidence to claim their rights.
A - Advocating
From grassroots mobilization to national and global platforms, BNSK actively advocates for the rights of women workers, influencing policies and ensuring access to justice and accountability.
D - Developing
BNSK continuously analyzes and strengthens existing systems, services, and mechanisms, developing more inclusive and effective solutions for underserved women, particularly migrant workers.
S - Supporting
In times of crisis and beyond, BNSK provides direct support services—including legal aid, psychosocial counseling, and humanitarian assistance—ensuring that no woman is left behind.
Guided by this LEADS framework, BNSK's work is rooted in empowerment, rights-based action, and long-term systemic change. The following sections outline the organization's mission, vision, and thematic areas that further define its direction and priorities.
